Excellence in People Management

Excellence in People ManagementExcellence in People Management aims to transform the Birmingham City Council into an authority where people at all levels are free to use their talent, creativity, energy and commitment to serve the public and improve services.

Key outcomes

  • A flexible, agile and competent workforce that drives service improvement and contributes to efficiencies
  • A single performance management framework linked to a fair and equitable pay structure that enables progression
  • The Council becomes an ‘Employer of Choice', able to compete nationally to attract and retain talent
  • HR service, focused on supporting timely, effective and strategic people management decisions.

Approach

Managers and employees are given the tools to maximise their potential and provide the best services possible. A revised performance and development review process supported by the Council's behavioural framework underpin this aim.

Excellence in People ManagementThere are clear links between business objectives, individual learning and performance and pay. A single performance management framework is linked to a fair and equitable pay structure that enables progression.

Managers are provided with access to comprehensive, timely and accurate Human Resources advice, data and reports.

Manager self service and employee self service are accessible through a web portal which provides HR advice, data and reporting supporting decision making.
